Byron Shemwell was born in Hopkinsville, KY, and at the age of 12, his family relocated to Lake City, Fl. Byron attended Columbia High School where he was a member of the boys’ basketball team. After graduating in 2007, he accepted a full scholarship to play basketball at Edward Waters College (EWC) in Jacksonville, FL. While attending EWC, he studied and majored in Criminal Justice in addition to being a three-year starter on the men’s basketball team. After earning his Bachelors Degree in 2012, Byron worked for several Non-Profit organizations in which he diligently supported the youth of Jacksonville. Byron is currently a Mental Health Behavioral Counselor at Right Path Behavioral Health. Throughout his collegiate and corporate career, Byron has found a way to stay close to the game of basketball. His coaching experiences includes Harvest Community Middle School and One Team One Dream (OTOD) travel ball organization.
Byron’s personal coaching philosophy is to create better players on the court and even better people off the court. He believes in providing a safe environment for children while instilling life skills.
